South Oldham High School is located in Crestwood, Kentucky and serves pupils in 9th-12th grade. The school's principal is Jeff Griffin. Jeff Griffin was elected by the SBDM Council as South Oldham's new principal after Dorenda Neihof resigned and took over Oldham County Schools Chief Operating Officer. The school's mascot is the Dragon, which is green to reflect the school colors of green and gray, as well as navy and white for accent colors. South Oldham opened in 1989 because Oldham County High School had become overcrowded. ==Academics== * The school annually sends several students to the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program and the Kentucky Governor's School For The Arts. * The Draconium, the student-run yearbook and The Dragon's Tale, the student-run newspaper, has won numerous Kentucky High School Journalism Association (KHSJA) awards under the direction of their adviser Cindi Reedy. * The school's Advanced Placement BC Calculus Course, taught by Larry McCloskey, regularly has 100% of students score a 3 (passing is 3 and above) or better on the exam.〔http://sohs.net/page3.html〕 * Certified Staff: 67; Guidance counselors: 3; Media Center Staff: 2 certified Media Specialists, plus a Clerk; School Resource Officer:1 * Schedule: 7, 50 minute periods.
